Terms of Service
Last updated: July 1, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Skill Tree, an educational web application and game that teaches AI-automation skills through a simulated workplace ("the Service"). The Service is operated by Jared Daniels, a sole proprietor doing business as "Skill Tree" ("we," "us," or "our").
By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to make a purchase. By using the Service you represent that you meet these requirements and that the information you provide is accurate.
2. Accounts
Access requires a verified email address. You are responsible for the activity that occurs under your account and for keeping access to your email secure. Sign-in uses a one-time code sent to your email; there is no password. Notify us at [email protected] if you believe your account has been accessed without your authorization.
3. What the Service is
Skill Tree is a training simulation and game. It uses real generative-AI models (provided by Anthropic) to let you build, run, and grade automation "skills" against fictional business scenarios. The people, companies, data, and scenarios in the Service are fictional and exist for instructional purposes.
4. License to use the Service
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own learning. You may not resell, sublicense, or provide commercial access to the Service to third parties without our written permission.
5. Purchases and access ("World Unlock")
Some content requires a one-time purchase (a "World Unlock"). A World Unlock is a single payment, not a subscription — nothing renews and nothing is charged again for that content. A World Unlock grants ongoing access to the full task tree of the world it applies to for as long as we offer that world through the Service. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not receive or store your full card number. Prices are shown before you pay and may change for future purchases. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
6. Your content and your skills
You retain ownership of the prompts, instructions, and skill files you create ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited license to store, process, and transmit Your Content solely to operate the Service (including sending it to our AI provider to generate responses, and grading it). Skills you build are yours to export and use elsewhere. You are responsible for Your Content and must not submit anything unlawful, infringing, or that contains other people's confidential or personal information you are not entitled to share.
7. AI output — no warranty of accuracy
Responses, grades, generated "reports," and other output are produced by automated AI models and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for any particular purpose. Output is provided for training and entertainment. It is not professional, legal, financial, tax, or business advice, and you should not rely on it as such. You are responsible for reviewing any output before using it in the real world.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to: (a) use the Service for unlawful purposes; (b) attempt to bypass usage limits, access controls, entitlement checks, or the payment flow; (c) probe, scan, overload, or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure; (d) use automated means to extract data or exhaust AI usage; (e) reverse-engineer the Service except to the extent that restriction is prohibited by law; or (f) use the Service to generate content that is illegal, harmful, or abusive. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that create excessive cost or risk.
9. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties to function, including Anthropic (AI model processing), Supabase (authentication and database), Stripe (payments), Render (hosting), and Google (email delivery). Your use of the Service is also subject to those providers' terms where applicable. We are not responsible for third-party services, but we choose them with reasonable care.
10. Availability and changes
The Service is provided on an "as available" basis. We may modify, suspend, add to, or discontinue any part of the Service, including individual worlds or features, at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to give notice of material changes that affect paid access.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE AND ALL OUTPUT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) US $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of Your Content or your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.
14. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) will survive.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the state and federal courts located in Texas have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute not subject to other resolution, and you consent to venue there.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
